Lenten Reflection
Second Sunday in Lent: March 1, 2026
Reflection: “The Congregation of Divine Providence is the legacy of William Emmanuel von Ketteler, Bishop of Mainz and pioneer of social justice, and of Mother Marie de la Roche. Founded in Finthen, Germany, in 1851, the Community responded to the needs of the time through education and service to the sick and the poor…As Sisters of Divine Providence, our ministry is characterized by the particular response to God’s providential love which is our charism – TRUST IN, AND OPENNESS TO, THE PROVIDENCE OF GOD.” (Constitutions, Article #1)
Scripture Readings:
Genesis 12 1-4a (The call of Abraham, the father of God’s people)
Timothy 1: 8b-10 (God has saved us and called us to be holy.)
Matt 17: 1-9 (The Transfiguration)
Reflection Questions:
- God promised Abraham to become as numerous as the stars in the sky.
- Bishop Ketteler and Mother Maria founded our community trusting in God’s work and power.
- Jesus was transfigured in front of the eyes of his disciples.
Closing Prayer: Congregational Chapter 2026 Prayer:
Provident God, give us a sense of your Presence on our Holy Adventure together.
Strengthen our trust in your providential love and care
as we explore new paths for the future before us.
Open us to see possibilities, give us the courage to embrace them,
and to enter into this Congregational Chapter
ready to embark on a Holy Adventure with You. Amen
