Emmanuel von Ketteler Province, Germany
In 1851 the Congregation of Divine Providence was founded in Finthen, Germany. The first group of four young women grew and spread, as they served the poor in rural areas by educating girls and providing nursing care in the homes.
Always attentive to the needs of poor people, our Sisters became nurses, founded hospitals, a school for kindergarten teachers and opened a children’s home which served children at risk for almost 100 years.
In 2001, our three German provinces reconfigured into one province.
Today, we offer our gifts and support to others through our presence, prayer, and social outreach for those struggling in our local areas.
