Reflection/Quotes

"The climate is a common good, belonging to all and meant for all." ~ Pope Francis

“Climate change knows no borders. It will not stop before the Pacific Islands and the whole of the international community here has to shoulder a responsibility to bring about sustainable development. ~ Angela Merkel

Eco-Challenge

Each day this month, as you recall Pope Francis’ life, take a moment to give special thanks for his invaluable contribution to the life of this planet and its most vulnerable inhabitants.

Facts/Education

"Never has humanity had such power over itself, yet nothing ensures that it will be used wisely, particularly when we consider how it is currently being used… In whose hands does all this power lie, or will it eventually end up? It is extremely risky for a small part of humanity to have it”. ~Laudato Deum paragraph 23

The urgency Francis describes in Laudate Deum is not mere anxiety but a holy urgency—the same that moved prophets to cry out and saints to act. It calls us to exchange our culture of waste for a spirituality of sufficiency, our dominion for stewardship, our individualism for solidarity.

In responding to this crisis, we discover that healing the Earth and healing our souls are one sacred task. As we tend to creation's wounds, we find our own hearts restored. The path forward requires not only scientific knowledge and political will, but contemplative wisdom and compassionate action rooted in faith.

May we, in this pivotal moment, become what our times demand: faithful stewards who hear God's call in creation's cry and respond with the love that transforms both Earth and heart. ~ Author unknown
